How do you Communicate your Business Vision?

Stop talking about Vision. Play it!

Do you play an instrument? You do? The piano? I’ve never heard a piano before, but I understand it’s a beautiful instrument. What does this piano sound like?  Really ponder that question for a minute.

Can you describe sound? Sound, like your Vision, is intangible. Also like sound, it’s impossible to describe.

If you show me the actual piano, explain the keys, pedals, and even open the top and show me inside- the strings and other necessary components that make up this instrument- do I then know what the music sounds like? What if you showed me the sheet music? Nope, still don’t hear it.

Just because you show me the instrument doesn’t bring me any closer to hearing the sound. But, if you sit down and play it for me, well then, now that is a beautiful sound…unless of course the instrument is not tuned and all the parts are not working in harmony.

What sound is your business making right now? Do all the people in your company hear the same thing? Are they all tuned in? Do they all like the sound your business makes? The answer to these questions is dependent on the level of energy in the company. Music creates a mood or energy, what mood do you want to create in your company?

Business objectives are aligned to strategic plans and then to tactical implementation. I can only hear the music if these and the Leadership & Managementmany other critical elements are actually played, not just put on paper. These elements need constant tuning.

A business is an orchestra. People must be present to make sound. When you can include passion, training, experience, alignment, and many other attributes, you produce even better sound.

The piano pedal is connected to the piano key. If this connection is weak or broken, they will never produce the desired result.  The Way One elements are connected to the Way Three elements. The tactical results are directly related to the business results. The training and development process is necessary to tune the instrument.

Just like a musical instrument, all the parts of the ROE™ Graphic (e.g. your business) must be arranged in the proper order. Qualified people sitting in the right seats and producing their desired results must execute the parts. If we move from Idea to Action without a Plan, something will not sound right. We need the Plan.

The Way One is the conductor, but until he or she starts to lead, there is no music. He or she simply cannot turn to the audience and say, “let me explain to you the sound you are going to hear tonight.”
